Set in 18th-century Jamaica, The Isle follows disgraced British soldier Benjamin Hunter, who is given one final chance at redemption. Governor Roberts dispatches him on a perilous mission: travel deep into the far reaches of the Caribbean to “terminate” the rogue Captain Milton, a former naval officer of exceptional talent who has mysteriously abandoned his post and established a rogue colony on a remote, near-mythic island. Echoing the themes of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, the film is an exploration of obsession, authority and the dark side of human ambition.

Behind the scenes, the film’s tropical world was brought vividly to life on location in Hawaii, whose dense jungles and untamed coastlines stood in for the uncharted Caribbean of the 1700s. The crew embraced the elements to capture the story’s raw, immersive atmosphere and create a tangible, lived-in colonial world. The result is a visually arresting, psychologically driven adventure that melds historical drama with the haunting, introspective edge of Conrad’s classic tale.
